It's hard to learn a Michael Hedges tune when your toddler keeps wanting you to feed Elmo. I'm tying to learn Hedges "Layover" for next weekend. It's a beautiful but persnickity tune that reveals all sorts of issues with my PIMA technique. That's P = Thumb, I= Index, M= Middle (the &^%* Off finger) and A for.. Uhh I dunno, Ring finger? I used to know that, it's Spanish or something...I don't know what the A means. No wonder I'm having trouble. Since I play mostly Don Ross tunes, you can't really walk into his living room and play his stuff.. If you know what I mean.. You don't play the Magic Flute for Mozart.
